Hypnotherapy Scripts for Change

Hypnotherapy scripts are a great way for you to experience the power of hypnosis in the comfort of your own home. Hypnotherapy scripts that are well written, and someone with a soothing voice may be all that you need to overcome your current obstacle. They are easy to use because they take the guesswork out of what to say. They are somewhat limited in their effectiveness because they are written beforehand and they lack the flexibility and responsiveness of a trained therapist. However they can produce radical results if used on a recurring basis.

Overcoming Obstacles

Hypnotherapy Scripts are written to utilize the power of suggestion. Usually they will utilize

a progressive relaxation induction and then a series of suggestions and metaphors for overcoming a specific obstacle or obtaining a certain result. The trouble that most people have is using them correctly. You cannot just read a script and expect that you will see results. Reading keeps your mind active and will not allow you to go into the deeper trance states.

Getting the Best Results with Hypnotherapy Scripts

To really get the best results it is suggested that you either have a friend read it to you, or that you record it beforehand and listen to it played back. This will allow you to really relax and focus on the suggestions that are being given. That way you can sit back close your eyes and breath deeply as you listen to the script being read. Some people are afraid that if they read the script into a recording that they will somehow miss the power of the script because they already know what is inside the script. While there is some truth to this if you relax deeply enough the hypnotherapy script will go straight into your unconscious mind allowing you to bypass your critical mind. This way both parts of your brain are going to know the content. Your critical mind will get it when you read through it and your subconscious will get it when you play it back and relax.

Do you hear what I hear

Recorded Hypnotherapy Scripts sound like the real you
Sometimes what you hear isn’t what everyone else hears

Another issue people have is that they don’t like hearing their own voice recorded. I often hear people say that their recorded voice doesn’t sound like them. The truth is that your recorded voice sounds exactly like you it is exactly what everyone else hears when you speak. What you hear when you speak doesn’t sound like what everyone else hears because your voice is actually distorted by bone conduction. That is the actual vibration of your voice in your head.

Hypnosis and the brain separation

Hypnotists often talk about the separate hemispheres of the brain and their different functions. I often feel like most of what they say is based on conjecture from research done in the past that was never really fully understood. This TED talk is a great example of how far we have come to understanding the separations in the brain. The thing that blows my mind is how quickly everyone throws away past discoveries when new information comes out.
Like I said many hypnotist a have based some of their techniques on old information that has been proven to be inaccurate but that does not mean that their techniques no longer work. It would be equivalent to deciding that you could no longer use a light switch because your theory on electricity was wrong. The switch still works!
I found this video fascinating. I think you will too.

The divided brain

Stress reduction

What is stress? Stress is your bodies natural reaction to situations that your brain considers threatening or dangerous. This is not due to a conscious decision about weather or not the situation is actually dangerous. The decision about weather or not it is dangerous is made by your subconscious mind through control of your autonomic nervous system. This is the system that controls all of your automatic functions. Blinking, breathing, heart rate, etc. You don’t get to make a rational decision because your body knows that your mind takes too long to make decisions sometimes. When a bear jumps out of the bushes and starts to charge you, your unconscious knows that you should react immediately. There is no time for consideration. So it kicks in adrenal glands gets your heart pumping and gets you ready to run.
The same thing happens when your boss comes in your office and yells at you. You may know that you are not actually in physical danger, but your body does not wait for you to make a decision. It just reacts.
Hypnosis allows you to go right into your autonomic system and shut that switch off when it is reacting improperly to situations. Allowing your body to restore balance.

Hypnosis and Weight Loss

There are countless diets and exercise programs all promising to finally rid us of those extra pounds.Despite the fact that the weight loss industry has seen tremendous growth in the last twenty years Americans continue to gain weight. This continuing trend can lead you to one of two conclusions.

Either the advice you are getting is wrong, or it isn’t being implemented correctly.

There is a wide range of nutritional and exercise programs on the market today. Some of them are based on false assumptions. There are many that are down right dangerous. However; the great majority of programs are very well researched and backed up by science. The fad diets come and go, and usually only people who are into quick fix programs are attracted to them. Most of the people I know choose a very practical program when trying to lose weight, but despite their very practical approach and their dedication to their goal they often see very little improvement, or lose focus and quickly regain any weight they have lost. In fact it is so common that they have even created a name for it “yo-yo dieting”.

If you pick a good program why is it so hard to see results?

I think that the majority of programs on the market today are well designed and their creators really want to help people lose weight. I also think that people are more disciplined than their results would indicate. There is just one thing missing from these programs that is necessary to help people accomplish their goals.

 The Mental Key

The missing key to unlock the door to your goals is all in your mind, your sub-conscious mind. Most people misunderstand the purpose of the sub-conscious mind. The main purpose of the sub-conscious mind is to keep us in balance. It reminds us that we need to go to sleep, it lets us know when we are hungry, it draws our attention to things we need to notice, like a baby crying in the next room, and it allows us to forget about things we would rather not notice, like the annoying music in the elevator. It speeds up our heart rate when we get scared, and it slows down our heart rate when we go to sleep. It will also remind you that you have a piece of cake at the back of your fridge, or the ice cream you bought that is going to go bad if someone doesn’t eat it. Our sub-conscious controls all of these things and more. That is exactly why I think that.

 Will power is a myth.

The very idea of will power is that you are fighting against yourself. If you are fighting against yourself than all you are really doing is, trying not to do, what you really want to do. This idea is just ridiculous. If you ever find that you are having to utilize will power than what you are really saying is that there is part of you that doesn’t want to accomplish your goal. The only way we can ever move forward is if we get our entire being moving in the direction we want to go. This is where hypnosis comes in. Hypnosis is a very powerful tool that can create the kind of congruency that you need to move forward. I know that there are other ways to go about making change on a mental level, but I have never found a tool that works as quickly and efficiently as hypnosis.

My suggestion

Find a good hypnotherapist and take them a list of the goals you want to accomplish. With that they can create some hypnotic suggestions to get your conscious and your sub-conscious mind moving in the same direction. Stop trying to fight yourself with so called “will power”. I promise you it will not work! Make an investment in yourself, and start making some progress.

Hypnosis and Smoking

This is a link to a video I posted on my you tube channel about a month ago. It is very general in its description about how hypnosis can help you quit smoking, but the information will give you a general idea of how it works if you have never considered it before. If you like the video and would like some more information click the like button, and leave me a comment.

Hypnosis to Overcome Fear

Fears are a double edged sword. Some fear is good, it keeps us from doing things that would hurt us. It keeps us away from dangerous situations. Fear out of control is debilitating. I don’t think that this is hard to see when you compare the fear someone feels when standing on the edge of a cliff, and the fear some people have of flying. Another common fear that keeps people from reaching their full potential is the fear of public speaking. I have met many people who lived with this fear for a long time telling themselves that they just weren’t meant to be a public speaker. The trigger that led them to try and overcome their fear is the feeling that they had great ideas and they were afraid to tell people about them. It makes me wonder how many poor decisions, and mediocre plans were implemented just because someone was afraid to raise their voice above the crowd.

Hypnosis is a great way to overcome these fears. Hypnosis for Public Speaking is a way to overcome the fear without having to get in front of an audience and suffer through the anxiety. In just a few hypnosis sessions the fear can be brought under control by disassociating from the fear and focusing on the task at hand.

Many people think that the only way to overcome the fear of flying is to actually get on a plane and be terrified a couple of times. This is nonsense, fear of flying hypnosis allows you to use the theatre of your mind and completely erase the fear and then fly to anywhere in the world without even leaving the ground. If fear of any kind is holding you back hypnosis could be the tool you need to overcome that obstacle.

Fear has another component that is separate but related to the long term effects of fear. That is stress. Whenever you are afraid your body releases a chemical flood into your bloodstream to help you prepare for battle against whatever it is you are afraid of. These hormones race into your blood stream and cause your blood pressure to rise, your heart to beat faster, and special hormones that numb your feelings. This reaction is good and necessary when you are in danger and have to run from a bear, but it is not so good if it happens everyday you see your boss, or that annoying customer. This physical reaction is the outcome of stress. Over the long term it can have detrimental effects on your well being and your longevity.

Hypnosis can help you retrain your body to react with relaxation instead of stress so that you would relax  every time you experienced something that used to stress you out. If you would like to hear an example of how this might work in hypnosis submit your email in the link on the side and I will send you a stress reduction MP3. The recording is a good example of what a hypnosis session is like. Try it out and leave me a comment I would enjoy hearing about your experience.

Conversational Hypnosis

Conversational Hypnosis is nothing new. In fact I am sure that we have all had a personal experience with conversational hypnosis. We get cornered at a party by that person that we really don’t want to talk to, and as they rudely capitalize our time our mind drifts off to another time and place. Although I am joking this is a good example. What most people miss about hypnosis is that it is a very natural state of mind. There is nothing mystical or magical about hypnosis it is something our brain does automatically. Whenever we are trying to figure out a problem or we are completely focused on a task or object. These are all examples of hypnosis in everyday life.

It is not magic, but it is very powerful if you can recognize the state when it happens and then utilize it. In that statement is the real power of hypnosis. Utilization is the missing element in so many of our lives. We are constantly bombarded with information and knowledge everyday, but how much of it can we actually use for a specific purpose. Hypnosis is no exception. This week I am creating some videos and blog entries about conversational hypnosis and how you can utilize normal conversation to induce a trance and then utilize it for change.

A discussion on conversational hypnosis would not be complete without a mention of Milton Erickson. He was one of the first to effectively utilize conversational hypnosis. he had many different language patterns he used to help people develop a trance and then utilize it to make a change.

I have several videos out on you-tube right now on this subject. The first is about nominalizations. This is the first pattern I am dealing with in this series on conversational hypnosis. The second is about Tag Questions and how they function as a useful tool.

I will be making more as time goes on. Keep checking  back!
